PCB Brushing Machine

Conveyorised brushing and grinding systems that remove oxide, dust and surface debris from PCB before plating, etching or solder mask. Three models — GE-B650 brush + grind, GE-B400 compact scrubber, GE-GB650 progressive abrasion — covering 400 mm to 650 mm working width and 0.2 – 3.2 mm plate thickness.

A PCB brushing machine is a critical pre-treatment station in any PCB production line. After drilling, the copper surface is contaminated with dust, fingerprints, oxide and debris. Left uncleaned, this contamination causes dry-film lifting, plating voids and solder-mask adhesion failures downstream. The PCB brushing machine from GE removes these contaminants with a controlled brush sequence, then rinses with DI water and dries the panel before the next station.

The GE PCB brushing machine range

Three models for every PCB line

From a 400 mm compact scrubber for R&D to a 650 mm progressive abrasion system for high-volume multilayer — all three run on the same chemistry-free brushing process.

Where the PCB brushing machine sits in your line

The PCB brushing machine is the second station in a complete PCB production line — right after CNC drilling and before plating or etching. The full sequence is:

  1. Board cutting & CNC drilling
  2. PCB brushing machine (this page) — removes drill burrs, dust and oxide
  3. PCB deburring machine — for heavy burr removal on hole walls
  4. PTH & copper plating
  5. Etching & stripping
  6. Solder mask & legend
  7. HASL / OSP / ENIG finish

Skipping the PCB brushing machine is the single most common cause of dry-film lifting and plating voids. The 30 seconds the panel spends in the brushing machine save 30 minutes of rework on a rejected board.

Quick answers

PCB brushing machine FAQ

A PCB brushing machine is a conveyorised brushing and grinding system that removes oxide, dust and drilling debris from the copper surface of a printed circuit board before plating or etching. GE supplies three models — GE-B650 (650 mm brush + grind), GE-B400 (400 mm compact scrubber) and GE-GB650 (650 mm automatic grinding brushing).

Use GE-B400 (400 mm, 3 kW) for R&D and small-batch PCB. Use GE-B650 (650 mm, 4 kW) for the standard single-side PCB line. Use GE-GB650 (650 mm, 28 kW) when you need the progressive 300# / 500# / 800# abrasion sequence with pressure-controlled oscillating brush for high-volume multilayer.

GE-GB650 uses a progressive 300# → 500# → 800# abrasion sequence. The progression removes heavy oxide first, then refines the surface finish, then burnishes. Each station is on its own motor with independent pressure control.

Standard conveyor speed is 0.5–6 m/min on all three GE PCB brushing machines. For 0.2–0.5 mm thin PCB, run at 0.5–1.5 m/min to avoid stress. For 1–3 mm standard PCB, run at 2–4 m/min. For 3 mm thick plate, run at 4–6 m/min.

Yes. All GE PCB brushing machines are designed with downstream DI water rinse to flush removed oxide and debris off the panel. The GE-B650 and GE-GB650 include a double spraying rinse station; GE-B400 includes a single spray rinse.

GE-B650 and GE-GB650 handle PCB from 0.2 mm to 3.2 mm thick. GE-B400 handles PCB from 0.2 mm to 3.2 mm as well but is limited to 400 × 400 mm max board size, ideal for prototype and small-batch R&D.

The PCB brushing machine removes surface dust and oxide effectively, but for drill burr removal (especially on hole walls), pair the brushing machine with a dedicated PCB deburring machine (GE-GBD650) that uses rotating brushes inside and outside the hole.

GE-B400: 3 kW / 380 V / 50 Hz. GE-B650: 4 kW / 380 V / 50 Hz. GE-GB650: 28 kW / 380 V / 50 Hz including all progressive brush motors and the oscillating drive. All three are three-phase.
